HADLEY — The inaugural 'Asparagus Days' event is set to delight attendees this weekend at the North Hadley Sugar Shack, located at 181 River Drive. Organized as a new take on the area's beloved festival, Asparagus Days promises an exciting mix of culinary delights, local crafts, and engaging activities for the entire family. Following the recent announcement by New England Public Media to discontinue the NEPM Asparagus Festival, a staple over the past ten years at the West Street common, local business owners Shelly and Joe Boisvert have taken the initiative to host this new celebration. Mark your calendar for Saturday, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., to join in on this vibrant community event. At the heart of Asparagus Days will be a wide array of asparagus-inspired dishes highlighting the versatility of this regional favorite. Alongside culinary offerings, the festival will feature live performances from local bands entertaining guests from the aptly named 'Spear Stage.' In addition, the Hadley Fire Department is set to fire up the grills, dishing out classic favorites such as burgers and hot dogs, catering to varied palates. For visitors aged 21 and older, a dedicated beer garden will offer a curated selection of brews to complement the food and festive atmosphere.
