The Baltimore Orioles have exciting news for their fans as they reinstate infielder Jackson Holliday from the 10-day injured list just in time for Monday's clash against the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, Florida. Holliday, a promising 22-year-old talent, had been sidelined since February due to a fractured hamate bone sustained during spring training batting practice. Following corrective surgery, Holliday embarked on a rigorous recovery regimen, which included participating in 11 rehab games with Triple-A Norfolk between March 27 and April 12, followed by two games with High-A Fredericksburg in April. The path back to the majors wasn't entirely smooth for Holliday. During a game with Norfolk against Memphis on April 24, he was pulled from the field due to discomfort from a swing. However, the determined infielder made a strong return on May 7, playing a few crucial games at Double-A Chesapeake before returning to Norfolk where he showcased his power by hitting his first home run for the Tides last Saturday. With past experience primarily at second base, having played 195 major league games there, Holliday has been receiving extensive training at third base over the past two weeks, hinting at new versatility for the team. He's also experienced at shortstop, having appeared there 11 times. Looking back at his recent performance, Holliday displayed his potential by hitting a batting average of .242 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs over 586 at-bats across 149 games in 2025. He also proved his base-stealing prowess with 17 stolen bases. To make room for Holliday on the active roster, the Orioles have optioned catcher Maverick Handley to Triple-A Norfolk. Handley was temporarily promoted when the Orioles' outfielder, Dylan Beavers, was placed on the 10-day injured list on May 13. Handley's brief major league stint included just one plate appearance.
