Milwaukee Honors Fallen Officer at National Memorial

by Lilit May 15, 2026

The Milwaukee Police Department recently paid homage to Officer Kendall Corder during National Police Week in Washington, D.C., a significant event commemorating officers nationwide who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Over 70 personnel from Milwaukee joined in the solemn events, including candlelight vigils and ceremonial observances, which highlighted the sacrifices and memories of their colleague, Officer Corder. His name now adorns the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, a tribute to his bravery and dedication. Chief Jeffrey Norman emphasized the dual role of the week's observances, not only as a remembrance for Officer Corder but also as support for his family and fellow officers still grappling with his unexpected loss in June 2025. Officer Corder, affectionately known as a 'gentle giant,' was a beloved member of District Two, with aspirations in the department's tactical unit, known for his warmth and camaraderie. His passing marks the sixth line-of-duty death in Milwaukee's ranks since 2018, a stark reminder of the perils faced by law enforcement. The week of remembrance served as an important moment for healing and solidarity, particularly for Officer Christopher McCray who was injured in the same incident. Officer Corder's family, embraced by community support, participated in memorial events, with his father placing a rose in his honor, symbolizing the love and respect held for the late officer. As reflections on Officer Corder’s legacy continue, the events of National Police Week provided both a pause for solemn reflection and a collective step toward healing.
