The Columbus Blue Jackets have fortified their roster by signing forward Charlie Coyle to a six-year contract extension. Coyle, who achieved a career-best performance in the 2023-2024 season with the Boston Bruins, netted a personal record of 25 goals and amassed 60 points, showcasing his prowess on the ice. Coyle’s extensive playoff experience includes 126 Stanley Cup Playoff games across multiple teams, such as the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche. He accumulated impressive statistics of 26 goals and 27 assists, contributing a total of 53 points. His notable playoff highlights include a crucial role in the Bruins' 2019 Stanley Cup Final run, where he recorded nine goals and seven assists in 24 games. Hailing from East Weymouth, Massachusetts, Coyle was initially drafted in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. His development continued through collegiate hockey at Boston University, before advancing to the Saint John Sea Dogs, where he played a pivotal role in their journey to the President's Cup title and a Memorial Cup berth. The Blue Jackets concluded the 2025-26 season with a record of 40-30-12, securing 92 points. Their performance placed them fifth in the Metropolitan Division, just seven points shy of clinching a Wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The addition of Coyle is expected to bolster their playoff ambitions in the seasons to come.
