Jim Jordan: Sanctuary Policies Harm Communities

by Lilit May 12, 2026

During a recent appearance on Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Ohio Congressman and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan voiced serious concerns regarding the policies of sanctuary jurisdictions and their impact on public safety. Jordan argued that the lack of stringent law enforcement in these areas, propelled by local prosecutors and district attorneys, endangers communities by fostering a climate where criminal activity goes unpunished. Jordan outlined what he described as a coordinated plan underscoring contemporary sanctuary policies: “There’s this strategy where, initially, 10 million migrants have entered the United States under the Biden administration. Step two involves the establishment of sanctuary jurisdictions, which complicates the expulsion of migrants who perpetrate additional offenses. Then, there is an effort to defund ICE, the body responsible for removals. Now, with step four, prosecutors are exacerbating the issue. When an undocumented migrant in these sanctuaries commits a crime, there’s a tendency to grant leniency. They aren't deterred by prosecution, effectively allowing them to walk free.” Expressing disbelief over these decisions, Jordan explained that about one-third of the U.S. population resides in what have become these protected areas — spanning 18 cities and 11 states, primarily in large, Democrat-majority territories. He described the philosophy driving these choices as a 'crazy left mentality' that leaves families vulnerable. Jordan's critical remarks are part of a broader discussion on America's immigration policies and law enforcement priorities, a subject he has vowed to tackle through his legislative role.
