For the first time, Games Done Quick (GDQ), the renowned charity video game speedrunning event, is set to make its European appearance with a live event at Germany's Gamescom this summer. Set within the energetic backdrop of Gamescom in Cologne, GDQ's charity marathon will unfold from August 28-30. This landmark event will feature an ensemble of popular speedrunners performing live, as an on-site audience cheers them on. The captivating performances will be broadcast globally on Twitch and YouTube, with the day starting early at 4 am ET and thrilling audiences until 2 pm. Ashley Farkas, the Owner and Business Director of Games Done Quick, shared her excitement about this global expansion: "Bringing GDQ to a European audience at Gamescom is incredibly significant for our team. This partnership not only champions an inspiring cause but also brings new opportunities for speedrunners who have been unable to travel to the US." Games Done Quick, established in 2010, has become a pivotal event in the gaming community, raising over $60 million for charitable causes worldwide. The first event this year included live speedruns of titles like Super Mario Sunshine, Hades II, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. As GDQ paves its way into European territory, it not only promises thrilling gameplay but also reinforces its commitment to charitable initiatives through the shared camaraderie of the gaming community.
