News - US urges Turkey to support ceasefire efforts in Nagorno-Karabakh

The United States has issued a call to Turkey, urging them to support ongoing efforts to bring an end to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The statement was released in written form by Matthew Miller, the Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, following a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, Secretary of State Blinken expressed gratitude to Turkey for its continuous efforts to revitalize the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Additionally, he appealed for Turkey's support in endeavors aimed at halting the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh and preventing further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region. Miller also highlighted Blinken's endorsement of Ankara's swift approval of Sweden's application to join the North Atlantic Alliance. The Secretary of State underscored the importance of expeditiously ratifying Sweden's accession to NATO, Miller noted in the statement.
