Book of Travels Concludes Development: Offline Mode Unveiled

by Lilit April 15, 2026

The ambitious serene online RPG, Book of Travels, has reached the end of its development journey after a five-year saga marked by optimism and obstacles. Originally launched into early access in 2021 by Might and Delight, the game quickly encountered turbulence when the developer downsized their team just months post-launch. Despite these challenges, Might and Delight remained committed to its vision, albeit with minimal updates. A pivotal announcement has now been made: the game's servers will close on July 31, but players will not be left adrift. An offline, single-player version will be available, along with a robust framework for modding, ensuring the game's legacy endures. This opportunity for unrestricted modding invites the gaming community to forge new paths in the Book of Travels universe. Acknowledging past communication shortcomings, the studio expressed regret over unmet promises and admitted that the scale of the game surpassed their operational capacity. Despite their earnest efforts, the foundational issues of the project remained unsolvable. In its offline iteration, Book of Travels transforms into a "lone wanderer" experience, offering players a chance to explore its world solo. Current players can download their characters before the server shutdown, ensuring continued adventures. Meanwhile, the game's price is now reduced from $30 to $5, coinciding with its graduation from early access to a full 1.0 release. While the sun sets on Book of Travels' online journey, the initiative to empower player-driven content and continued support for solo gameplay reflect Might and Delight's dedication to preserving the essence of this unique RPG, endearing it to a community that cherishes its slow-paced and enigmatic charm.
