YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. Armenia is nearing a critical juncture where Russia might need to reconsider its economic relations with the country, stated Alexei Overchuk, Vice Premier of the Russian Federation, in an interview with TASS. He acknowledged that in bilateral meetings and within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) framework, Armenian leaders express friendship with Russia and confirm their commitment to the EAEU. "From our side, discussions are open yet always respectful. Matching words with actions leads us to conclude that our colleagues are approaching a point where we may need to fundamentally realign our economic ties with this country," he added. Overchuk highlighted that the Russian Federation government, given its responsibilities, is worried about the future state of trade-economic relations with Armenia. "Considering the announcement on selling the Armenian railway concession, the understanding of the regional context, and Armenia's leadership's policy towards closer ties with the EU, serious questions arise about the future of these relations," he noted.
