Buffalo Sabres defenseman Conor Timmins returns after an extended recovery.

by Lilit March 26, 2026

After a prolonged absence due to a broken leg, Buffalo Sabres defenseman Conor Timmins is set to return to action. The 27-year-old was sidelined after an awkward fall in a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on December 18, 2025, and initially expected to be out for only 6-8 weeks. However, his recovery extended beyond predictions, keeping him off the ice for more than four months. With six assists from 33 games in the current season and an average ice time of 19:14, Timmins has been a key player on the Sabres' roster. The St. Catharine’s, Ontario native secured his position with Buffalo through the 2026-27 season under a contract worth $2.25 million annually, after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in a trade package including Isaac Belliveau, in exchange for Connor Clifton and a high draft pick. As the Sabres prepare for his return, they continue their remarkable season with a strong 44-20-7 record, trailing just one point behind the Carolina Hurricanes for the lead in the Eastern Conference. The Sabres' success has largely been attributed to their solid defensive lineup, anchored by players like Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power. With Timmins back in the fold, he will add depth and competition to a blue line squad brimming with talent, including Zach Metsa, Logan Stanley, Michael Kesselring, and Luke Schenn. As Timmins reintegrates into the lineup, the Sabres will aim to maintain their momentum and solid playoff positioning, banking on their defensive prowess and team synergy to carry them further into the season.
