Portland dominates the Bucks, intensifying the playoff race.

by Lilit March 26, 2026

Scoot Henderson's impressive 23-point performance off the bench was pivotal in the Portland Trail Blazers' commanding 130-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. Deni Avdija and Jerami Grant added 18 points each as Portland (37-37) notched its sixth win in eight games, edging closer to playoff contention against the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference. Donovan Clingan's dynamic presence was felt with 14 points, a standout 15 rebounds, and four steals, while Matisse Thybulle contributed 14 points off the bench. Jrue Holiday complemented Portland's offensive barrage with 13 points and eight assists. As tensions mount in the playoff race, Portland must maintain its momentum, trailing the Clippers by a mere half-game. Upcoming matches, including showdowns against the Clippers on Tuesday in Los Angeles and April 10 at home, are poised to define their postseason fate. Although Ryan Rollins delivered a career-high 36 points for the Bucks, who continued to miss the influential Giannis Antetokounmpo (absent due to a left knee issue), Milwaukee's struggles were evident, enduring their 12th loss in the last 15 games. The Trail Blazers' shooting from the field was exceptional at 52.5%, including 19 out of 41 from beyond the arc, signifying a 46.3% success rate. This victory marked their fifth consecutive triumph over Milwaukee. Notably, Toumani Camara, fresh from a career-best 35 points against the Nets, bolstered the team with 10 points. Conversely, the Bucks' 40.4% field goal accuracy and a tepid 31.1% performance from three-point land underscored their challenges. Their 1-3 road trip saw defeats by substantial margins, each exceeding 30 points. In the first half, Jerami Grant's exceptional 16-point contribution enabled Portland to establish a commanding 71-49 halftime lead. Returning from a foot injury, Grant's timely shots, including a crucial three-pointer midway through the second quarter, widened the gap to 61-36. The third quarter saw Portland extend its dominance, initiating with an 11-3 run, pushing their lead to 82-52 by Camara's layup at 9:11. Entering the final quarter ahead 104-81, Portland's tenacious start, complemented by Henderson's pivotal three-pointer, secured a decisive 33-point advantage with over nine minutes remaining, ensuring a smooth victory into the final stretch.
