Tinder users in the United Kingdom will now need to complete a facial scan to create an account, as part of a new initiative to enhance safety and authenticity on the platform. The feature, known as Face Check, rolled out today, forming part of Tinder's ongoing global effort to implement robust verification measures. Following a successful trial in California and subsequent launches across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and other regions, the UK becomes the latest country to adopt this technology. The process involves new users taking a video selfie, which Tinder analyzes to ensure the individual matches their profile photos. Upon successful verification, users will receive a Photo Verified badge, signaling their verified status on the app. This function also aids in identifying users with multiple accounts, maintaining profile integrity across the network. Since the inception of photo verification in 2021 and video verification in 2023, Tinder has progressively enforced stricter measures like ID checks in 2024.
