In a strategic move to redefine express delivery in the U.S., Amazon has unveiled one-hour and three-hour delivery choices across numerous cities to challenge giants like Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. This groundbreaking service will bring over 90,000 items to doorsteps with remarkable speed. Users can identify eligible products via a special label on the Amazon app, while dedicated filters streamline the shopping experience. Amazon Prime members can opt for an expedited delivery with fees of $9.99 for one-hour and $4.99 for three-hour services. Non-Prime users will incur a $19.99 charge for one-hour and $14.99 for three-hour deliveries. The one-hour delivery option emerges in hundreds of bustling urban landscapes, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., extending to areas including Des Moines, Boise, and American Fork. Meanwhile, three-hour express delivery expands Amazon's reach to over 2,000 cities and towns. A new storefront interface will centralize items that qualify for these efficient delivery solutions. In explaining the innovation, Udit Madan, Amazon's senior vice president of Worldwide Operations, stated, “Our customers' lives are busier than ever, and we aim to leverage our operational mastery in creating time-saving opportunities while enhancing the value for our Prime members.” Utilizing existing same-day fulfillment centers, Amazon enhances its infrastructure to support these services. While Amazon's journey into instantaneous delivery is not new — with past efforts like the 2014 'Prime Now,' and more recent 30-minute delivery trials in Seattle and Philadelphia — the refreshed strategy underscores a commitment to dominate the quick commerce sector globally. Internationally, growth has been seen with similar launches, such as the 2024 and 2025 rollouts of rapid services in India and the UAE, marking Amazon's bold step into a fast-evolving global market.
