

YEREVAN, February 19 - The Armenian Tourism Committee has announced plans to initiate direct flights between Yerevan and Riga starting May 2, 2026. These flights will be operated by airBaltic. The discussion regarding this initiative transpired during a meeting between Lusine Gevorgyan, head of Armenia's Tourism Committee, and Latvian ambassador to Armenia, Edite Medne. Both parties expressed optimism towards the implementation of this new connection, citing its potential to enhance bilateral tourism as well as business relations. Additionally, there were deliberations on expanding collaboration opportunities between Armenia and Latvia in the tourism sector, and organizing events leading up to the flight launch. The meeting also saw the presence of Armenia's Honorary Consul to Latvia, Armen Gasaboglyan, affirming the importance of this strategic move for both countries. This new route is anticipated to bolster not only travel but also the cultural and economic ties binding the two nations.
