Hollywood Bowl's Grand Finale: The Last Season of Dudamel Shines

by Lilit Feb. 18, 2026

The iconic Hollywood Bowl, a cultural landmark in Los Angeles, is set to host its most eclectic and electrifying summer season in years, marking the final chapter for Gustavo Dudamel as he leads the Los Angeles Philharmonic before commencing his new role at the New York Philharmonic. A pivotal highlight of this season is Dudamel's unique collaboration with hometown heroes, the Foo Fighters, in a one-of-a-kind show fusing hard rock with symphonic excellence. This pivotal performance is part of a series titled 'Celebrating Gustavo,' which promises an inspiring farewell. Dudamel's farewell shows will include Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, a musical spectacle complemented by a contemporary composition from Michael Giacchino featuring the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and powerful words by poet Amanda Gorman. Additionally, 'Dudamel’s Playlist' will unveil his preferred musical pieces, played by surprise guest artists, ensuring each night remains unpredictable and unforgettable. Beyond Dudamel, the Hollywood Bowl's summer line-up remains strikingly diverse. June kicks off with the Blue Note Jazz Festival, hosting luminaries like Patti LaBelle and Wyclef Jean, then flows into a vibrant Juneteenth celebration with hip-hop sensation Chance the Rapper. The month ends with a colorful hip-hop showcase starring The Roots and Nas. July amplifies the excitement with an Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular featuring the iconic Beach Boys, and a classical extravaganza led by Tito Muñoz. The month’s sonic offerings include an enticing blend of classic and contemporary artists like Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, and the electronic rhythms of Bob Moses. August features the blues-rock legends ZZ Top, soul powerhouse Al Green, and cinematic concerts with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra’s take on 'Top Gun: Maverick.' Soon after, Dudamel wraps up with Beethoven’s Fifth, promising an emotional peak. September is set to dazzle with screenings of 'Amadeus' and an homage to John Williams, culminating in Buddy Guy’s 90th birthday celebration. The Fireworks Finale with OneRepublic ensures the season ends with a bang. The joyful nostalgia of a Rodgers & Hammerstein sing-a-long, combined with Jon Batiste’s performance, closes this landmark season, etching Dudamel’s legacy into Bowl history.
