David Babayan: No humanitarian aid provided to Artsakh by Azerbaijan

by Lilit Sept. 22, 2023

Azerbaijani media reports suggest that the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations has decided to dispatch a cargo of food to Artsakh for humanitarian purposes. According to these reports, two 20-ton trucks loaded with various food products and hygiene items, along with two cars carrying bread, were sent to Artsakh. In response to these claims, David Babayan, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Artsakh and Representative on Special Assignments, and a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, refuted the information. "Azerbaijan has not provided any humanitarian aid to Artsakh; rather, Artsakh is expecting humanitarian assistance to arrive through the Berdzor corridor from Armenia," stated David Babayan in an interview with 168.am. Babayan also provided insight into the current situation in Artsakh, characterizing it as stable but complex. "At present, we are in the process of restoring certain aspects of daily life. We anticipate the arrival of humanitarian supplies through the Berdzor corridor from Armenia. We are eagerly awaiting the first humanitarian shipment to reach the besieged Artsakh, traveling from Goris to Stepanakert via the Berdzor corridor," emphasized David Babayan. He further stressed the necessity of conducting search operations within Artsakh to locate victims and missing individuals as a result of Azerbaijani aggression. Regarding Nikol Pashinyan's recent statement made during a live broadcast, where he claimed "there is no direct threat from Azerbaijan to the people of Artsakh," David Babayan chose not to provide any comments. "I prefer not to comment on those statements. We have displaced individuals, casualties, missing persons, and people under siege, including deceased children. What can I say? I do not even wish to provide any commentary," concluded David Babayan.
