On February 1st, light snowfall was observed in various regions across Armenia, including Sevan, Vaik, Ashotsk, and Ararat. As of 10:10 AM, all interstate and national roads in Armenia are operational. However, road maintenance teams continue their efforts to ensure safety by spreading salt and sand across potentially icy surfaces. Drivers should take note that while the roads remain open, specific areas such as the Spitak bends and the Meghri pass present challenging conditions for vehicles, particularly those with trailers and semi-trailers. Hence, enforcement of stringent road safety measures, including the use of winter tires, is recommended. Additionally, the Vardenyats pass remains off-limits for vehicles with trailers due to reduced visibility, a result of the prevailing weather conditions. Authorities are advising all road users to remain vigilant and adhere closely to safety regulations while maintaining a responsible driving demeanor as Armenia navigates these seasonal weather challenges. Despite the inclement weather, no significant accidents have been reported thus far. Collaboration between local municipalities and road maintenance operators continues to prioritize the safety and mobility of all vehicular traffic across the impacted regions.
