In the past five years, Armenia has seen a significant drop in the number of people seeking employment and those registered as unemployed, according to Arsen Torosyan, the country's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. Recent statistics presented by the Minister reveal a consistent decrease in unemployment rates and a rise in job creation, which are now contributing to a more stable labor market. Torosyan highlighted that the ongoing efforts in job creation have shown substantial and persistent growth, despite occasional public skepticism. He emphasized that the statistics indicating the decline in job seekers and the unemployed are supported by hard evidence. These figures are testimony to the government's commitment to improving the country's employment landscape. Torosyan's post on Facebook included a diagram showcasing the falling numbers of individuals registered in the Unified Social Service as job seekers and unemployed at the end of each year. For example, the number of people seeking jobs in 2025 was reported to be 46,508, and the number of unemployed was 32,974, compared to 86,396 and 58,173, respectively, in 2024. These figures indicate that strategic measures taken by the government have been effective. The creation of new job opportunities has played a crucial role in this downward trend, reflecting positively on the socio-economic environment in Armenia. As the country continues to recover economically, it remains focused on further reducing unemployment through various initiatives aimed at fostering public and private sector employment opportunities.
