

In Cambridge, authorities have apprehended Nelson Portillo, 34, for allegedly initiating a shooting on Christmas Day. Portillo was charged with multiple firearm-related offenses, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm near a building, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. The incident, which took place inside a residence on Howard Street, led to both Portillo and another individual being injured after gunshots were fired during a gathering. Following their treatment in a local hospital, a combined investigative effort by Cambridge Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office culminated in Portillo's arrest. He will remain in custody awaiting a dangerousness hearing. In a separate incident in Billerica, Michael Sansevero, 33, was taken into custody after an overnight break-in at a local car dealership resulted in the theft of snowplow blades and mounts. The police investigation, aided by surveillance footage, led to a search warrant being issued for Sansevero's residence on Ox Road. During the search, authorities discovered two stolen plow blades and mounts, alongside an assortment of illicit items, including firearms, ammunition, drugs, and cash. Sansevero now faces various charges, including larceny over $1,200, possession of firearms without an FID card, and drug possession. He is scheduled for arraignment at Lowell District Court. Additional incidents reported by the Boston Police Department include arrests related to two robberies, multiple assaults, burglaries, larcenies, and auto thefts. Some of the individuals arrested include Rafael Gascot Estrella for assault with a dangerous weapon, Josabelle Monge for trespassing, and Jared Haynes for distributing a Class B drug. All named suspects remain innocent until proven guilty.
