Turkey is striving to assert that it did not have a direct role in Azerbaijan's military actions against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), despite providing comprehensive support, including military training and modernization, to Azerbaijan. This was reported by Reuters with reference to a representative of the Turkish Ministry of Defense. The spokesperson stated, “It was Azerbaijan army's own operation, there was no direct involvement of Turkey.” “Turkey's cooperation with Azerbaijan in military training and army modernisation has been underway for a long time. The Azerbaijani army's success in the latest operation clearly shows the level they achieved,” the official added. Additionally, the official highlighted that the joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center remains operational and is actively reporting any violations of the ceasefire. Turkey, which shares strong linguistic, cultural, and economic ties with Azerbaijan, also expressed its support for both Baku and Yerevan in their efforts to establish peaceful relations, the official added.
