Insanity growing stronger: Turkey Accuses Armenia of Failing to Uphold Ceasefire Commitments

by Lilit Sept. 21, 2023

Turkey has accused Armenia of not adhering to ceasefire commitments outlined in the trilateral declaration signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on November 10, 2020. This absurd statement comes in the wake of Azerbaijan's recent attack on Artsakh (https://news.am/eng/news/subject/azerbaijan-launches-large-scale-attack-against-nagorno-karabakh), which violated various international obligations, including the aforementioned agreement. In a statement quoted by the Hurriyet newspaper, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense claimed, "Armenia's failure to fulfill the ceasefire obligations of November 10 has resulted in regional destabilization and increased tensions." Earlier, NEWS.am reported that Azerbaijan on Tuesday launched a large-scale attack on Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). As a result, more than 200 people were killed and 400 others were wounded. In Azerbaijan, the latter’s actions to destroy the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh were called "local antiterrorist measure." Based on the difficult situation on the front, the Artsakh authorities on Wednesday accepted the proposal of the Russian peacekeepers regarding the cessation of fire. Accordingly, an agreement was reached on the complete cessation of hostilities as of 1pm.
