Cam Ward's rookie season has been a rocky one, to say the least. The Tennessee Titans are 2-12 and fired coach Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start to the season. He didn't always see eye to eye with his quarterback, and now that the team is back in the hunt for a new head coach, Ward wants to be involved in the process. In a recent interview, the Miami product said that he wants to meet with all the head coaching candidates. Cam Ward wants to be involved in the head coach hiring process “I want to meet all of them,” Ward told the team’s website. “Every coach who’s going to get the opportunity to come here, I want to meet them, have conversations throughout the whole process with them because that’s someone that I’m going to be here with for that time.” Ward also said that he didn't have any preference as to whether the team should hire an offensive or defensive-minded coach. He just wants whoever they bring in to be the right fit. “So, we got to just continue to — me being around and being open to it no matter whoever we try to hire because I know at the end of the day who we do hire is going to be the right fit for us,” Ward said. “Whether it’s a defensive person or an offensive person, they’re going to make sure that every person is in the right place, and make sure every person is set up for success.” Of course, that's not unusual. Franchise players are often involved in the hiring process, be it meeting the candidates or sharing their input. Then again, Ward has yet to earn his stripes in the league, and while he's definitely the franchise's cornerstone for now, the front office should have the final say in this decision regardless of his thoughts.
