Molly Lucas (14 points) and Olivia Panaro (13 points) paced Rockland (2-0) in a 50-38 South Shore League win over Abington. … Bella Abrams poured in 21 points for East Bridgewater (2-0) as part of a 60-34 win over Bourne. Jada David (32 points) and Gulliana Decorq (30 points) powered Methuen to a 74-52 Merrimack Valley Conference victory over Lawrence. Muji Vader scored her 1,000th point, tallying 23 as Minuteman (1-0) beat Weston 46-40 in a nonleague contest. … Megan Legaski (12 points, eight rebounds) was one of three to score in double figures, pacing Shawsheen (2-0) over Cardinal Spellman, 47-21. Vanessa Lawrence Taylor scored 11 points, while Jacki Ortiz and Neveah Wilkins had 10 points each as Whittier (1-0) bested Lowell Catholic 55-37 in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference. Boys basketball Rex Satter (17 points, six steals), Tanner Manning (16 points) and Cal Schofield (12 points) finished in double figures for Ipswich (1-1) during an 81-33 rout of Cape Ann League foe Rockport. Tyler Comman scored 21 points, while Will Carpine chipped in with 11 points and Rophil Ngnintoundem had 10 points as Rockland (1-0) defeated Hull 74-60 in the South Shore League. Bobby Taku (15 points, 11 rebounds), Duke Cherry (14 points, seven assists) and Jeremiah Figaro (11 points, eight rebounds) guided Malden Catholic (2-0) to a 67-47 nonleague victory over Doherty. … Connor Smith and Ian McGrath dropped 14 points apiece, leading Melrose to a 53-46 win over Pentucket. Boys hockey Thomas Quinn scored in a second straight game and Rocco Lampasona added his first of the year, lifting Franklin (1-1) to a 2-1 nonleague win over Newburyport for former assistant Jake Brightbill’s first victory as head coach. A four-goal deficit in the final six minutes was no issue for Foxboro (1-1), as Nikko Chiaradonna erupted for five of his six goals to rally past Stoughton/Brockton, 9-6.
