The Jaguars' newest acquisition was exactly what the team needed. During the midseason trade deadline, there were several moves involving first-round picks and star-caliber players. Of all the trades, the most valuable one appears to be Jakobi Meyers. Previously with the Las Vegas Raiders, Meyers was sent to Jacksonville immediately after an overtime loss to the Jaguars. He had asked for a trade back in August, as he didn't see a future with the silver and black. Jaguars General Manager James Gladstone answered Meyers' prayers by trading a 2026 fourth-round pick and a sixth-round pick for the disgruntled receiver. The Missing Piece It was no secret around the league that the Jaguars were facing major issues in the receiving corps. Losing first-round pick Travis Hunter to a knee injury during a practice was a major blow after a career game. Free agent addition Dyami Brown wasn't living up to expectations. Most discouraging of all was Brian Thomas Jr and his 13% drop rate after a historic rookie season. Drops have been a consistent issue throughout the Jaguars season. GM James Gladstone acknowledged this issue, saying that Meyers' superpower was not dropping the football.
