by Lilit Sept. 21, 2023

The Armenian government does not consider the evacuation of the Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Office of Armenia’s Prime Minister has told the state news agency Armenpress. "The RA government does not consider the issue of the displacement of NK Armenians and believes that the rights of NK Armenians to live safely and with dignity in their homes should be guaranteed, but on the other hand, if it is deemed impossible for NK Armenians or part of them to stay, the necessary decisions will be made," the Prime Minister's Office said. Representatives of the Armenia’s government are in constant contact with their counterparts in Nagorno-Karabakh regarding humanitarian issues, including the evacuation of those who wish to come to Armenia, the Prime Minister's Office added. The faith of more than 120,000 Armenians remains unclear after Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19. Nagorno-Karabakh has confirmed that 200 people have died and more than 400 wounded, including civilians, because of Azerbaijan’s aggression. Azerbaijani opposition media that report that 80 Azerbaijani soldiers have died during the military aggression. The Azerbaijani forces resumed the fire on Stepanakert today while a delegation representing Nagorno-Karabakh was holding a meeting with Azerbaijani representatives in the Azerbaijani city of Yevlakh to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and further actions. Following the meeting, the delegation said that no final agreement was reached and that the details must be agreed upon.
