TaTever cable car has been recognized as the world's leading cable car in the World Travel Awards 2025, marking the fourth time it has won the honor. The Armenian cable car again surpassed competitors from Bolivia, Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, and South Africa in public voting, with the victory announced at the official World Travel Awards 2025 ceremony in Bahrain. This year TaTever celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since its launch, the cable car has become one of Armenia's main symbols of tourism. Built on the initiative of Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabendi, and listed in the Guinness World Records as the world's longest reversible passenger cable car at 5752 meters, this project has played a crucial role not only in the development of the Syunik region but of Armenia as a whole by boosting the country's tourist appeal. Today, every fifth tourist visiting Armenia goes to Syunik, and tourist flow to the region has grown 17-fold. TaTever not only takes tourists to one of Armenia's most beautiful corners but also guides them to the medieval Tatev Monastery, giving new life to the region and turning it into a magnet for travelers, cultural initiatives, and local businesses. Thanks to the program, private sector investments in the region have grown 11 times. The growth of tourist flows has supported the development of hotel infrastructure; around 40 new guesthouses have opened in the Tatev and Goris area. The Tatev cable car was built as part of the Tatev Revival program, led by Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabendi, uniting thousands of donors, builders, and volunteers for the social, tourism, and economic development of Syunik. All proceeds from the program go to the restoration of Tatev Monastery and the development of the Tatev community. The World Travel Awards is considered one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of tourism.
