Tigran Abrahamyan: Challenges in Artsakh will impact Armenia's security

by Lilit Sept. 21, 2023

The security and independence of Armenia have long been safeguarded by the defense of Artsakh. On September 21, Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the 'I Have Honor' faction in the National Assembly, emphasized this point during discussions with journalists at the Yerablur Military Pantheon. Abrahamyan underscored that the attacks on Artsakh have far-reaching implications for Armenia's security and defense system. He expressed concern that many attempts have been made by the RA authorities to depict the situation in Artsakh as a problem separate from Armenia. He believed that such statements reflect a government effort to downplay the serious consequences of the Artsakh situation onto Armenia. Abrahamyan stressed that Artsakh is an integral part of the Republic of Armenia, and the challenges faced there will inevitably affect Armenia. Abrahamyan also noted that it is not coincidental that when Azerbaijan initiated aggression against Artsakh, Turkey and Azerbaijan started raising the issue of the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor,' asserting their determination to achieve it at any cost. He viewed this as a direct threat to Armenia, suggesting that if Azerbaijan's demands are not met within the framework of a so-called peace process, they might resort to force. In essence, they are prepared to extend the conflict into Armenian territory, Abrahamyan concluded.
