Yerevan, November 14. /ARKA/. The European Union plans to propose to the United States a plan for implementing the next phase of the trade agreement, Bloomberg reports, citing informed sources. According to agency sources, the plan the EU will present to the United States will focus on five areas. These areas include tariffs and market access, where the EU seeks reductions in duties on a number of additional goods, including wines and spirits, Bloomberg notes. The plan also provides for a dialogue to address issues such as standards, digital trade, technical barriers, and other trade-related problems, Finmarket reports. According to agency sources, under the plan the EU proposes creating a working group on economic security, which would focus on issues such as investment screening, export controls, procurement, and the supply of critically important raw materials. The agency reports that the head of the EU Chamber of Commerce, Maroš Šefčovič, is set to meet with his American counterparts at the end of this month to discuss the plan. On July 27, at a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland, the European Union and the United States agreed on a trade deal. These understandings provided for 15% tariffs on most goods exported to the United States, including cars. In turn, the EU has developed draft legislation to reduce duties on U.S. industrial goods and on some non-core items of American agricultural exports. But discussions of possible 50% reductions in U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum yielded little result. Moreover, the White House resisted including wine and other spirits in the list of goods not subject to the 15% tariffs.
