At least 19 members of the Sinaloa Cartel were killed by the military in an attempt to seize one of the arrested leaders of this organized crime syndicate in Mexico, the country’s defense ministry informed in a statement. "As a result of law enforcement actions, Edwin Antonio ‘H’ alias El Max, the alleged leader of a criminal group associated with the Pacific cartel Mayo Sambada (also known as Sinaloa), was captured," noted the aforesaid statement. “During the operation, 30 members of the mentioned group and the personal bodyguards of the arrested person attacked the soldiers; they were pushed back by the federal forces. As a result, 19 attackers were killed, others fled," the Mexican defense ministry added. During the special operation, weapons, means of protection, as well as cars belonging to these criminals were seized. The events took place on Monday in the rural community of Plan de Oriente, east of Culiacan city.
