After the sale of a house in the US state of Colorado, body parts—which turned out to belong to the 16-year-old daughter of the previous owner of the house—were found in the freezer, according to local authorities, NBC News reports. The death of Amanda Overstreet is being investigated as a homicide and the investigation is ongoing, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said. The horrendous discovery was made back in January after the home was sold to a new owner and after he offered to store the freezer for free, the sheriff's office said. A head and hands were found inside the freezer. Amanda was last seen or heard from in April 2005. The Mesa County Coroner's Office said Friday that the remains have been identified and that the cause of death is being investigated as a homicide. The remaining parts of the body were not found. The office did not release a cause of death, but said it is now an active investigation and would not release further details. A DNA test helped confirm the girl's identity. The sheriff's office reiterated Friday that the home has a new owner and he is in no way connected to the incident. The house was purchased, completely renovated, and sold to the current owner, the sheriff's office said.
