Any border changes are unacceptable, Iran first vice president tells Armenia PM

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia received First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref of Iran, the PM's office reports. First, the premier congratulated Aref on his appointment to the aforesaid position, and wished him all the best in his future activities. Subsequently, Pashinyan noted that the continuous development of Armenia's relations with Iran is one of the priorities of the Armenian government. The premier highly appreciated Iran's principled and public position regarding Armenia's territorial integrity and the inseparability of internationally recognized state borders. Mohammad Reza Aref, for his part, emphasized once again that Iran fully supports the territorial integrity of Armenia and considers any border changes in the region unacceptable. Also, he stressed Iran's determination and readiness for multi-sector cooperation with Armenia. PM Pashinyan reflected on the latest developments in the talks on a Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, the Armenian government’s Crossroads of Peace project aimed at unblocking regional channels and its principles. He stressing that Armenia is ready to contribute to the development of the trade and economic relations of the interested countries by unblocking on the basis of the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity. In turn, the first vice president of Iran emphasized that his country supports the Crossroads of Peace project of the Armenian government. The interlocutors discussed as well bilateral trade and economic relations and their development, cooperation in energy, infrastructure, road construction, tourism, and some other domains. Views were exchanged also on some other matters of mutual interest.
