There is a need in Armenia to allow imports from some countries without conducting laboratory tests. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy Tatevik Sargsyan during the debates on the package of bills on making amendments and additions to the law on phytosanitary and related laws at the session of the National Assembly of Armenia Tuesday. According to the new legislative initiative, pesticides and agrochemicals produced in some countries can be imported to Armenia without additional laboratory tests. These changes, according to the deputy minister, are due to the fact that in developed countries there are already quite high requirements regarding the quality of pesticides and agrochemicals, so there is simply no need for additional inspections when importing them to Armenia. The list of countries from which such imports will be permitted, bypassing the respective inspections, will be defined by the government's decision.
