German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has supported the idea of the West providing Ukraine with long-range missiles for self-defense, despite the fact that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has opposing views. She said this on air of the ARD TV channel, quoted by DW. Baerbock emphasized that she has always said that long-range missiles play an important role, “especially to overcome the mine belt in eastern Ukraine.”When asked about the possibility of supplying Kyiv with other weapons from Germany, she emphasized that she had already made her opinion on the matter clear, but Scholz has a different position.“And in the coalition - what happens in the democratic coalition is that if the partners can't agree on one point, we can't support it (the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine). Then the Americans do it, and the British, and the French,” Baerbock pointed out.She also once again spoke in favor of Germany's continuation of military aid to Ukraine.Baerbock argued that this support is especially important given the possibility of Donald Trump's return to the White House after the election. As is well known, Germany has consistently refused to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine - even after the UK, France and the US transferred their long-range weapons.
