The Shura Council—the main governing body—of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement has chosen the new secretary general of the organization, Hashem Safieddine, sources informed, report El Balad, Al Arabiya, and Al Hadath. Until now, Safieddine served as the head of the Hezbollah executive council. Hashem Safieddine is the cousin of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by an Israeli airstrike, and the son-in-law of the former commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by an American airstrike.
