Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Tuesday met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, the continued interaction between Armenia and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights were discussed, the Armenian foreign ministry informs. The importance of the engagement of the UN High Commissioner’s Office in the protection of human rights on the road to the establishment of stable peace in Armenia’s region was emphasized. They reflected also on the steps being taken by the Armenian government address the needs of the forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, and to the respective cooperation formed with Armenia’s international partners. In addition, Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's vision for establishing lasting peace and stability in its region, including efforts to normalize relations with Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia's approaches to key issues.
