News - Prayer service be held at Yerevan's Saint Anna Church for Armenians in Azerbaijan prisons, their safe return home

On Friday at 5pm, Father Zenon Barseghyan will hold a prayer service at the Saint Anna Church of Yerevan—at the intersection of Abovyan Street and Sayat Nova Avenue—for the safe return home of all Armenian prisoners and captives illegally being held in Azerbaijani capital Baku prisons, informed the Free Armenian Prisoners movement. A year ago on September 27, during the forced deportation of thousands of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) citizens to Armenia, famous philanthropist and humanitarian Ruben Vardanyan was arrested near the Hakari bridge by Azerbaijan and transferred to a Baku prison. The arrest of Vardanyan was followed by the arrests of seven former political and military figures of Artsakh. At the moment, dozens of Armenian prisoners are illegally held in Baku prisons.
