After my statement about the vision in connection with the EU, it is an integral part of the political agenda whether Armenia should officially adopt or not a political path to become a member the EU. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during the Second Global Armenian Summit Wednesday. "Here, too, we must understand that this is not a one-sided, even two-sided action. This is where we should be very careful when forming tasks so as not to create new disappointments among our people on the way to fulfilling these tasks. I have never hidden at all that in the end, Armenia's membership in the EU should also be imagined physically. Here, Georgia-EU relations are very important, what will happen, how Turkey-EU relations will develop is very important, and in this context, how Armenia-Turkey relations will develop is very important," Pashinyan stated. He noted that democracy is a strategy for Armenia, which will bring the country closer to the EU, US and other Western partners. "On the other hand, we [i.e. Armenia] should not and cannot contrast our democracy with our region, our regional politics. Our future courses of action in connection with the EU must be transparent. Moreover, the intentions of our EU partners should also be transparent. I cannot rule out that if we see a more or less realistic possibility of becoming a full member of the EU, including keeping under control the possible threats that may arise along the way, we will definitely not miss that moment," added the Armenian premier.
