Ryan Wesley Routh, the suspect in the apparent assassination attempt of former US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump, has been charged, CNN reports. Routh, 58, was charged with possession of a firearm while a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number during an initial appearance in federal court Monday. During the investigation, additional—and more serious—charges will probably be brought against him, reports DW. The first respective court session, according to CNN, took place in Palm Beach, Florida. The next court hearing is scheduled for September 23. The suspect will remain in prison until then. The suspect in the alleged assassination attempt against Donald Trump is Ryan Wesley Routh, a construction worker working in Hawaii. It is reported that he criticized the former US president on social media and actively supports the war in Ukraine. The suspect was arrested earlier.
