An Armenian-American expedition has been excavating the Masis Hill Neolithic settlement in Armenia for seven days. The leader of this expedition, Professor Pavel Avetisyan, informed about this on Facebook. "We already have an exceptional result. A child's burial was opened under the wall of the building. The structure is in the layer of the first quarter of the VI millennium BC. That is, the burial either refers to the same time or is earlier. In the territory of Armenia, to this day we have two burials with a clear context and date related to those times: one from Aknashen, one from Masis Hill. DNA analyses of this new burial will come to add to our understanding of Neolithic communities north of the Araks [River]. Right now, as I am writing these lines, my colleagues are continuing the work of cleaning the ‘little one's’ skeleton. It is a documentation of extraordinary significance," Avetisyan added.
