Thirty-three years ago on this day, a decision was adopted, which became the basis for gaining the independence of Artsakh. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President Samvel Shahramanyan stated this in an interview with reporters Monday. "Unfortunately, we lost Artsakh today. We used to celebrate this day as a holiday, but today it is a day of sorrow. We have high hopes that we will succeed in returning our homeland. The question of what status and how to return Artsakh is always on our agenda. To solve this issue, the Artsakh parliament has set up a committee headed by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vartan Oskanian. We regularly meet and discuss possible return issues. Options and proposals are different. The people of Artsakh very much want to return to Artsakh and live in their homeland, in Armenian Artsakh. We must be ready. Our return will be possible in the case of international guarantees, under decent and fair conditions, and most importantly, we should feel safe. If these standards are met, we are ready to negotiate for a quick solution to this issue," Shahramanyan said. The Artsakh president informed that he did not meet with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan. Shahramanyan assured that he did not try to meet with him. "It must be a natural phenomenon for that meeting to take place. But we have not met until now. I don't know what package of issues Armenia’s government discussed. We have not submitted any proposal to Armenia’s government," the Artsakh president added.
