Tourist flows to Armenia decreased by 6.1 percent in the first half of 2024. Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan stated this during the debates on the state budget implementation report for the first half of 2024 at Monday’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly. According to Hovhannisyan, this drop in the number of tourists to is mainly due to the 23.6-percent decrease in the number of tourists from Russia. "On the other hand, we [i.e. Armenia] have an increase in the number of tourists from India, Georgia, and Iran. Although we are now below the indicators of 2023, they are considerably higher as compared to 2019," the finance minister added.
