Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Friday met with the visiting president of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Ana Olivera. The meeting was attended also by the vice president of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Uruguayan Armenian, Pedro Jisdonian, the foreign ministry of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. As a continuation of the discussions held during the Armenian FM’s visit to Uruguay capital Montevideo in March, Mirzoyan and Olivera reflected on steps aimed at deepening partnership in various domains, and in line with the high-level political dialogue and friendly ties between the two countries. The interlocutors pointed to the domains in which there is a considerable potential for the development of cooperation, and expressed their willingness to contribute to the further development of cooperation in this direction. Also, Mirzoyan emphasized the increasing dynamics of high-ranking visits, as well as the active role of friendship groups in the parliaments of Armenia and Uruguay in expanding the cooperation agenda between the two countries. "Armenia highly appreciates the principled position shown by the Uruguayan parliament in matters of protection of fundamental principles of international law, human rights, and universal values," FM added. Armenia’s regional issues were also discussed at the meeting. In this connection, the Armenian FM presented the latest developments in the process of normalizing of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and stressed the importance of signing a peace treaty between the two countries in the context of ensuring regional stability and long-term peace.
