Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday hosted the president of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, Ana Olivera, and vice president—and Uruguayan Armenian—Pedro Jisdonian, who are on an official visit to Armenia, the PM's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am. First, the premier welcomed this visit by the leadership of the Uruguayan legislature to Armenia, and emphasized the fact of warm and friendly relations between the two countries. Pashinyan noted that Uruguay has always stood with Armenia and the Armenian people in difficult times, and that Armenia attaches importance to the development and strengthening of cooperation with Uruguay in various domains. According to the Armenian PM, the high-level mutual visits of the past years attest to the bilateral political will to expand cooperation. Also, Nikol Pashinyan stressed the need to develop interparliamentary cooperation between Armenia and Uruguay on international platforms, as well as the deepening of ties in economy, tourism, culture, and sports. In turn, Ana Olivera thanked for the warm hospitality, adding that Uruguay expresses its solidarity and support to Armenia and the Armenian people both in the past and today. Also, the speaker of the Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay emphasized the development of relations with friendly Armenia in various directions, adding that their parliamentary cooperation is at a high level. The interlocutors reflected also on the talks on signing an Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty, the Armenian government's program for providing housing for Armenians forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, and some other matters of mutual interest.
