Forest fires are raging in Greece due to hot weather, reports Euronews. As a result, the Greek authorities had to evacuate the residents of several settlements 30 kilometers northeast of Athens. A total of 250 firefighters are engaged in extinguishing the fires, and dozens of volunteers have joined them. Twelve planes and seven helicopters also participate in extinguishing the fires. In some places, the height of the fire reaches 25 meters. The smoke of the wildfires covered the sun in the skies over the Greek capital. There have been more than 2,000 forest fires in Greece this summer, caused by, among other things, arson. The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection of Greece warns that the high level of fire hazard will remain until Thursday.
