We are in favor of unblocking, but that unblocking should take place under the sovereignty of Armenia. Iran's ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, said this in an interview with reporters Friday, and referring to Azerbaijan's removal of the unblocking clause from the draft peace treaty. And when asked about the consequences of delaying this unblocking, Sobhani said: "It is natural that if there is an unblocking, the traffic will increase as a result. But there should be a mutual arrangement and agreement in this regard. If an arrangement is reached, it means we are getting closer to peace. This is for the benefit of the region, for the benefit of the peoples of the region. We are in favor of what it is doing towards the establishment of stable peace." After more than two years of negotiations, Yerevan has confirmed that by mutual agreement with Baku, they have decided to remove the article on unblocking of regional communications from their draft peace agreement.
