Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit the Azerbaijani capital of Baku on August 19, BRIEF Telegram channel writes. "As the source informed, preparations for this visit are currently ongoing. One of the matters that the Russian leader could discuss with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev will be the supply of Russian natural gas to the Transcaucasian republic. According to sources, Moscow and Baku have been discussing this matter for several months, and Turkey is the guarantor of the deal. In early July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had said in an interview with Bloomberg that Kyiv is studying the possibility of supplying Azerbaijani [natural] gas to the EU through its territory, after the end of the transit agreement with Gazprom at the end of this year. ‘Probably, half of the Azerbaijani [natural] gas being sent to Europe will be Russian,’ the [natural] gas industry expert said earlier,” BRIEF writes.
