Heavy rains in New Delhi last night have led to widespread flooding in various parts of the city, India TV reports. Within hours, the streets of New Delhi turned into rivers, and traffic was blocked. Meteorological stations recorded up to 147 mm of precipitation in some parts of the Indian capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red weather alert for 24 hours in New Delhi. Residents are advised to stay at home, secure windows and doors, and avoid unnecessary visits. The New Delhi government, in consideration of the current weather conditions, adopted a decision to close all schools on Thursday. During the night, the firefighters recorded more than ten calls regarding collapsed buildings and walls of houses. The police reported that a 22-year-old woman and her child drowned in the eastern district of the Indian capital.
