A Nepalese Saurya Airlines aircraft crashed during takeoff at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Wednesday, reports The Kathmandu Post. "There were nineteen people on board the flight to Pokhara, including the crew. The tragedy happened at around 11am," airport spokesperson Premnath Thakur said. The accident happened en route to Pokhara, the second most densely populated city of the country, which is considered the tourist capital of Nepal. Police and firefighters are carrying out rescue operations at the scene. Information about the condition of passengers and crew has not yet been reported. Kathmandu-based Saurya Airlines flies to five destinations in Nepal and operates Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft.
