Rashid Beglaryan, a captive resident of Nagorno-Karabakh, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Baku, Azerbaijani media reports. The announcement of the sentence was preceded by two court hearings. According to the court decision, Beglaryan will serve 5 years of his sentence in a high-security penal institution. Beglaryan was captured last summer. The State Security Service of Azerbaijan included Rashid Beglaryan among the participants of the "Khojaly genocide" committed by Azerbaijanis themselves and attributed to the Armenian side. The State Security Service report published earlier by Azerbaijani media noted that "suspected of torturing Azerbaijani prisoners of war and other persons protected by international humanitarian law, as well as committing other grave crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, participation in the activities of illegal Armenian armed groups Rashid Aramaisi Beglaryan was arrested on charges under Articles 112, 113, 115.2, 279.1 and 318.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
