Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian said during a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the Islamic Republic of Iran respects the territorial integrity of all countries and opposes any change of international borders, IRNA reported.According to media reports, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a telephone conversation with the president-elect on Tuesday evening, congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his victory in the presidential election and referred to his long and successful history of political activity.He also expressed regret over the death of Iran's previous president, Ebrahim Raisi, noting that relations between the two countries were well-developed under Raisi.Expressing hope that the relations between the two countries will remain warm and friendly in the upcoming period as well, the Armenian Prime Minister added that the relations between Iran and Armenia are based on common interests.The Iranian President thanked Nikol Pashinyan for the congratulations and noted that Armenia occupies an important position among Iran's neighbors and relations with this country are very important for IRI's foreign policy system. "Although Iran's border with Armenia is short, it is the border of hope and peaceful life, and our principal policy towards you is unbreakable," Masoud Pezeshkian was quoted by the media as saying.Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran respects the territorial integrity of all countries and opposes any change of international borders, the Iranian president-elect said, "We support the peace talks between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and are ready for any assistance in this regard."He also emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitment to its obligations to Armenia, as well as readiness for further development of relations.
